Northbound Bellaire Exit Ramp Becomes EZ TAG Only
Beginning September 18, 2009, the northbound Bellaire exit ramp from the Sam Houston Tollway will temporarily become a single EZ TAG only lane. Construction of this exit is part of the Westheimer and Bellaire ramp improvement projects which will help improve mobility in the area.
Currently, the northbound Bellaire exit ramp consists of two lanes - one Automatic Coin Machine (ACM) / EZ TAG lane and one Full Service lane. Changing the configuration of the exit ramp temporarily will help speed construction and provide a safer commute for drivers while the improvements are implemented.
Once complete, the exit ramp will consist of wider, separately dedicated lanes for EZ TAG customers and cash customers. Construction is expected to be complete by December 15, 2009.
Drivers traveling northbound who wish to exit the Sam Houston Tollway for Bellaire, Harwin, Westpark Drive and Richmond should take the toll-free Beechnut exit as an alternative to access these streets.
The Bellaire southbound entrance ramp is currently under construction and on schedule. Improvements to the northbound and southbound Westheimer ramps are scheduled to begin mid-November and be completed in April 2010.
