SH 249 Ramp Improvements Begin

Crews began work on the eastbound Sam Houston Tollway to State Highway 249 exit ramp on June 20, 2007. During this approximate 20-day project, one lane of the current two-lane ramp will be closed. The entire ramp will remain free until about mid-July. Additionally, this ramp will be completely closed each night during the overnight hours beginning at 10 p.m. and reopening for free access at 5 a.m., June 19 through July 2, 2007.

When reopened, drivers will have one northbound direct connector EZ TAG lane, and one new dedicated EZ TAG lane along with one full-service lane for all other access (Beltway 8 feeder and southbound SH 249).

Toll Road Authority engineers expect to alleviate the backups that southbound SH 249 and feeder EZ TAG drivers have encountered.
