The Harris County Toll Road Authority Receives Top International Awards for The Westpark Tollway Project

The Harris County Toll Road Authority was recognized at the International Bridge Tunnel and Turnpike Association's 73rd Annual Meeting held in Cleveland, Ohio for its leadership in innovative toll technology for the Westpark Tollway project.

The IBTTA Toll Excellence Awards program recognizes member toll agencies that are furthering the aims of the toll industry through creative, innovative and positive programs. At this year's conference, the Harris County Toll Road Authority's Westpark Tollway, which is the nations first all-electronic toll road, received the associations Toll Excellence Award for Technology. Also receiving Toll Excellence Awards were agencies from Illinois, Delaware, France and Brazil who were recognized for excellence in the fields of Administration, Customer Service, Operations and Social Responsibility respectively.

From the five Toll Excellence Award winners, a panel of IBTTA industry leaders selected one agency to receive the prestigious Toll Excellence Presidents Award with the criteria for that award based on visionary leadership, innovative accomplishments and industry excellence in all fields.

On behalf of the IBTTA, the association's President Stephen Mayer, P.E. from the Seaway International Bridge Corp. Ltd. presented this year's Presidents Award to the Harris County Toll Road Authority for its Westpark Tollway project. Proudly accepting both awards was HCTRAs Director H. Mike Strech, P.E. In addition to expressing his appreciation not only to the IBTTA for this honor, Mr. Strech also recognized and thanked key members of his staff and specific consultants who contributed significantly to the successful completion of the Westpark Tollway project.

The Harris County Toll Road Authority is extremely honored to have received this recognition, and will continue in its efforts to provide innovative technology, exemplary customer service, and excellence in administrative, operations and social responsibility to the community it serves and the toll industry as a whole.
